Who Needs This Permit
Carriers that regularly operate qualified vehicles across IRP member jurisdictions—including Arizona—should hold IRP apportioned plates and a cab card rather than buying temporary trip permits for every entry into AZ.
New interstate fleets, carriers expanding routes into Arizona, and operators whose current base jurisdiction filings omit AZ are strong candidates for IRP setup or amendment assistance.

Permit Details
The IRP is a reciprocity agreement among U.S. states (and Canadian provinces) that apportions registration fees based on miles traveled in each member jurisdiction. Once Arizona appears on your cab card, you generally do not need AZ temporary trip permits for covered vehicles.
