Who Needs This Permit
Carriers that regularly operate qualified vehicles across IRP member jurisdictions—including Oregon—should hold IRP apportioned plates and a cab card rather than buying temporary trip permits for every entry into OR.
New interstate fleets, carriers expanding routes into Oregon, and operators whose current base jurisdiction filings omit OR are strong candidates for IRP setup or amendment assistance.
How to Get It

Permit Details
The IRP is a reciprocity agreement among U.S. states (and Canadian provinces) that apportions registration fees based on miles traveled in each member jurisdiction. Once Oregon appears on your cab card, you generally do not need OR temporary trip permits for covered vehicles.
